If you are relocating to the Sacramento, California area then let me tell you what we have here to make your transition easier:
- The State Capitol: There are two parts to the state capitol. The older section and the more modern section. The older section was restored and show the history of our state very well. It is worth a visit to see the preserved history within this state building.
- Old Sacramento: A restored area of Sacramento that brings you back 80 to 120 years in the past. There are small shops and restaurants in this section of town and worth your time to visit more than once.
- Train Museum: Located near Old Sacramento for those who want to relive the era where the railroad helped build this country. Have your walking shoes on when you visit this beautiful and historic location.
- Yosemite National Park: This is a very beautiful area of California that is only a 3 hour car ride away. Yosemite is located to the South of Sacramento and southeast of Stockton, California.
- South Lake Tahoe: The beauty and majestic mountains surround a lake that is said to be 9,000 feet deep. This is located due east of Sacramento along highway 50. There are Casino's that border the southern part of the lake.
- Mount Shasta: A beautiful area located about 5 1/2 hours north of Sacramento off of US Interstate 5
- San Francisco: Of course this is a very historic city in California and it is about 1 1/2 hours south of Sacramento taking U.S. Highway I-80 (West Bound)
- Golden Gate Bridge: Located to the North of San Francisco and separates San Francisco from Marin County. Also separates the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean
- Oakland: Take U.S. Highway I-80 (West Bound) about a 1 hour drive from Sacramento
- U.C. Davis: Located just west of Sacramento about a 15 minute drive along U.S. Highway I-80
- Stockton: Located south of Sacramento taking U.S. Highway 5 south for about 45 minutes to 1 hour or you can also take California Highway 99 south.
- Mendocino: This is a beautiful Pacific Coast town. You can take U.S. Highway 5 North to Williams, and then take California Highway 20 west to the Pacific Coast Highway or California Highway 1 and take that South to Marin County or North to the California boarder with Oregon. This would take all day to drive this distance.
- Monterey Coast: Should be about a 3 hours drive from Sacramento taking U.S. Highway 5 South. Reference your map because there are a few different ways to go to get there. Going through San Jose will take you close to Santa Cruz, Gilroy and Salinas.
